Is the consulting all travel lifestyle really worth it in long run?
Totally yes. Points for free vacations, never have to cook meals, get to stay in hotels nicer than your place that you never have to clean, and get to see friends in cities you might visit
Also need to take the travel time into consideration. It is a waste of time and can’t really turn it into productive or relaxing time
Working internally in a consulting firm, totally worth it :D
What llllll said. Many internal roles in these orgs have the best of all worlds. - Travel and stay business class at your own schedule; time offs as and when you feel like.
The point of consulting isn't biz class travel and hotel perks. It's to achieve an accelerated career trajectory (almost guaranteed if you stay long enough). Sure, you could get a steep TC trajectory in Tech as well, but that's only one in five companies that do really well. Tradeoff is a few years of tough lifestyle, but manageable if you are young and don't have kids, and comes with a lot is nice perks. If career trajectory acceleration is your goal, its totally worth it.
I think when you are young below 27 yr old travel the hack out see places and fuck the girls then settle down! After 40 start again 😀
Wow, what a dbag comment.
Traveling keeps you on the move although a waste of time and money in the end. Nowadays with communication technologies it should be easy to just work from home but then work from home can put you into comfort zone....been there done that...ideally would like to travel once a month just to keep that balance but in real world unfortunately one needs to pick either of them for most part
If you're fresh out of college with no dependents/responsibilities.
Best aspect of LEK for me was the at-home model. Makes it all much more manageable to be able to come home every night and see my kids
it was never worth it
you feel cool flying biz class the first few months but after that it’s just way too much you’re never home and you never see your friends
