I'm joining Amazon in February to become a DevOps specialist in AWS. What advice would you have for me as a new employee? Anything special I should be aware of? What cool benefits do you get (aside of the main ones)? Do I get to pick my laptop or should I hope I don't get a crappy one? Hahaha overall excited to start a new job and learn new stuff! :)
Buy Kleenex in bulk from Costco
What are “benefits”?
I'm starting in Feb too. Do I bring my own bottle to pee in on the first day or will they provide me with one?
Pip
Get a Xanax and Adderall prescription
Weed should suffice :P (I hope)
Last few days of great work life balance
Find a good therapist.
Alive people. Also check this: https://sites.google.com/site/thefaceofamazon/ . Welcome to the club.
Well that's no good. I hope I don't walk into a bad experience...
My friend/ex boss was a manager at amazon . One of his devs went above and beyond and removed a lot of code to clean code up . A month later , some metrics started behaving weirdly .. eventually got traced to that guys PR . Director told my friend to put the dev on a dev list and my friend resisted and did not do so. This sort of thing happened a couple of times , then my friend got forced out .
So Amazon is risk averse?
Cool Benefits: Stack of 🍌
Ok can you elaborate? Everyone talks about bananas and im unsure why Haha is it that I will find bananas in every kitchen? Lol
LOL they hand out free (yea, surprise!) bananas in a stall to the public outside of an amazon building. No food or anything in the kitchen
