I find it difficult to find female leaders to whom I can look up to. Senior level people on Blind, what are some what is the reason we have very few women leaders?

I’ve been recruited to be an L7 at Amazon, so I’m right under the next level. First, I have been trying to get promoted for a few years, and am a top performer. However, I’m not a good people pleaser, so I have annoyed a lot of men. I am also getting a bit angry at the constant micro-aggressions and am considering getting out of the big company game (not that small companies are really better). So... I think after 20+ years of type A striving some of us are just tired? And not seeing a clear path from here, because forget the c-suite if you’re a woman. (Unless you are lucky/mega superstar + very good looking)

1. You're not looking hard enough! 2. You're expecting that they rule the world. Find 10 to 20 brands or products you see, use or deal with on a daily basis. Go to the corporate website. Find the About Us/Meet the team, etc page. Tell me there are no female leaders or successful women to look up to. Don't be one of those people who isn't satisfied unless they have an outspoken famous successful advocate in a leadership position, that looks like herself/himself.

Differences in attitudes, very well understood. Agreeableness in women is on average higher, and leaders usually need *dis*agreableness. It's 2018 and the science surrounding this is well-established. I wish more people knew it.
So many reasons. Don’t know where to start. If I simplify it (maybe overly) vicious circle of being out numbered. I’m not saying it’s men’s fault so please don’t say “it’s not our fault.” “Stop whining”👍
I’ve found that IBM actually does really well with having women in leadership positions, at least from what I’ve been exposed to. In my group, the site manager, the GM, VP of the group that controls ours, our distinguished engineer, and many of our sector leaders are women. I don’t know if we have any official reasoning or policies that made this happen, but I guess I never thought about it much more than noticing it.
That would be actual equality. No time for that now.

I like this question. I know a handful of great female leaders who are L7, but I noticed the male/female ratio collapses at L8 and above.
