Leet code or Own startup

I am on H1B visa with 10 yoe and have been implementing an idea for last 1.5 years related to data science . The prototype is ready for commercializations in next 3 months . I could use this product not just for US but also India but US will be the primary market. While there is immense potential of the product to grow in both the markets I am concerned with operational challenges especially with visa and other headaches. Given the time I have invested and money ($15k) and another 30k investment required for commercial operations I am not sure worth the effort. I have two choices here go back to India and develop it but this is not that easy with the move and funding . Second choice to give up on idea and leet code to target best firms and management positions.

You can try for some basic angel funding if the idea is so good. Once you get it, you can even move to your own startup on H1b (you will need to get a board of directors who can potentially fire you). You can even do it without funding, but it’s tougher. Other alternative is to get your own O1 visa with your startup. Try contacting Peter Roberts / Bay Law Immigration. Search for immigration lawyers for entrepreneurs, they offer free phone evaluation. You need to have strong conviction in your idea . People on H1b have done this before , but it’s not easy

Can you sell this sitting outside US? (Maybe a sales partner / online etc?) If you have an i140 (and therefore can return to US later), just move to India and work with for an India subsidiary of your own Delaware C corp. Sign up for Stripe Atlas it's very easy. Indian VCs / global VCs in India will open doors for you. You can work at peace and ship from a lower cost base location, rather than running around for H1B all the fkin time. Good luck.

Statistically, no matter how groundbreaking the idea is, your own startup has 80% probability to fail on first attempt. So unless you are willing to fail 3-4 times to compound your luck, do leetcode. I would leetcode, get a stable income, and moonlight the startup.

Every Indian in this planet have a great idea. Idea worth no more than $20 max. If you have a working prototype and your idea is so good you should not have difficulty to get angel investor. Also if at this moment you are thinking to stop working in it and doing leetcode, you don't have the composition of enterpruner

Very judgemental. I guess you were never slapped by anyone for being a bully

I agree intel

@ Intel Truth is harsh and the problem is not many people like it. We live in a very interesting time where stating fact is bullying but talking about physical violence is ok

Intel zoox Feb 27, 2019

Well, for a fact you have no idea about OP's idea. You are being judgemental because you have heard some ideas which you didn't think will lead to fruition. I'm not asking anyone to be soft, but judging too quickly like this isn't a leadership thinking either. If you have some value to add which will actually help OP and other readers will be very useful. I shouldn't probably give free advice However empathy meaning ability to understand each other makes us all humans.

Go to India and try your startup. If you fail you can always get a job later. If Gates or Bezos thought about statistics of startup failure they would not have built Microsoft, Amazon. H1b life is anyways/always shitty slavery. You could also try Canada for your startup.

Canada is a good option , Express entry
