Maximize tc or maximize comp/hr

Which one is the better metric in your opinion? It seems like salesforce, microsoft and maybe google maximize the comp/hour putting them on the top of any comp related conversation? My opinion is its the latter. If i maximize my comp/hour, i can venture into anything i want in my free time. Build my own app/website, free lance..or just watch netflix. Before anyone asks tc : 225k
