Hello, I interviewed with Microsoft and passed the on campus interview. Got an email from a recruiter who said I was "high in the stack" for next round (no pun intended). However, a few of my friends also got that, and many got rejected as well. Nearly all my friends who passed the first round have gone on site to interview with Microsoft except me. This has been going on for over a month, and I feel pretty crappy because I feel like they're pushing me to the side. Is this normal for Microsoft recruiting? Every time I email the recruiter, they say I am "still in consideration."
Normal. MS recruiting is absolutely horrible. I know people who are told they are hired, then it still takes over a month to get an offer letter.
It means that manager wants to hire you, but you screw up and you are not qualified for the position. So manager gave you chance to interview with other teams. Otherwise, you would be banned for 1 year from interview.
Sounds like they have a bug 🐜 in their process.
Haaaahaaaahaaaaa that was funny and original like 10 years ago!
I am not surprised. MS Recruiting is terrible.... Big company bureaucracy
Ugh I hate University recruiting.
It took this long for me. I think my first call was like June or July then onsite in November and offer in end of November.
I had an on campus interview on the East Coast in late September / early October, they said nothing till December (I'd sent a thank you note and no response), then I emailed in Jan and they said "yes please come in for an onsite". They eventually scheduled my onsite in March
Which team?
There's training going on this week. The manager may just not be available this week. Lots of planning going on right now.
The speed at which hr works seems directly correlated to the seniority of people who want it done. Ive seen hr take months then in other cases turn things around in 4 days
MS recruiting is indeed horrible. The recruiters don't have good articulation and think like they are hiring for a mission critical thing like a space project. They don't respond back to phones and emails and don't understand the pain they are causing with the delay. Whoever is running the recruiting is definitely not doing a decent job.
Maybe the people you are supposed to interview with are stuck on an intense project. Or out on vacation. That’s what happened to me when I interviewed with my current company. Took weeks.
Do you get free honey bunches of oats at your job?
