I applied for a few PM jobs in Microsoft and got two separate emails from different recruiters pretty quickly. Both recruiters said the HMs are interested and would like to move forward balabala. All they asked are my visa status (totally green) and my expected salary(I said I would rather to discuss in offer stage). Both HRs said they would definitely get back to me in a week, and even the position does not fit, they will work with me for other positions. After a week, no reply. I followed up last Thursday , still no reply until now. Any ideas?
Sadly this is pretty much par for the course for Microsoft recruiters. Worst in the industry.
I’ve had 3 MS “sourcers” contact me recently. My conclusion is that you need to find your own contacts inside of the company. And you’ll need to find the team that you want. The truth is that MS recruiting is astonishingly bad.
I think it has something to do with the new H1B shit... I had a friend hey declined to move companies because of it. They're probably just figuring this out now
What nee h1b shit ? And op mentioned he is green card holder
I have had to find my own candidates and schedule everything. They don’t even seem to mind.
This^
Bots?
I also went through this and have friends go through it as well they are pretty horrible with getting back to people. I wouldn't completely lose hope but would definitely look at other opportunities.
So did they get back to you eventually? How long did you wait
They did get back with me after two weeks but this was for my interview results. My other friends did not ever get a reply. If I was you I'd focus on other opportunities in the meanwhile. Decide now if you're willing to switch (seems like you are) and for what you're willing to switch for. Then start searching for that.
Which org were these positions in? As you might have read in public news sources, Microsoft went through a major restructuring only a week or so ago. The restructuring affected every team in some way, except for Xbox team. The news was kept under wraps internally so most recruiters had no idea. I can imagine some openings being frozen for a bit till things settle.
Their recruiting platform has recently changed so there are issues with that too.
From my perspective as an interviewer, the new platform looks amazing, when it works. One cool thing is that we can no longer see others’ feedback before submitting our own, so unless there’s informal communication between interviewers, there’s potentially less bias. This might actually work if we formalize each interviewer’s role and at least communicate which questions we plan to ask/did ask.
Oh and there is a talent sourcer also reached out to me two weeks ago on LinkedIn and talked to me over the phone about a PM position also. She also only asked about my visa status and salary. Same thing, she said she’s gonna get back to me soon. But no reply even after I followed up. Weird right ?
