This year they shut down all green card programs for an unknown time. heard it’s not the first time. No one publishes this kind of news before, so more and more innocent people become victims. Hope nobody is lured into its trap anymore. Avoid this shitty company. The team still keeps pushing back request and keeps delaying the process despite groups of angry employees voice up their concern in the company social media platform and despite they host town halls. Lost all faith on them. Their made fake promises before accepting the offer, afterwards they are as shit as you can imagine.
I heard it’s temporary. Should be back soon right
Yep. They added the term, first in first out. Only if your work authorization is truly in danger, they will take some actions. Even that I’ve heard some people joined for 2.5 years without green card or 140 progressed. Case was held for over a year and when it’s about time to proceed they haunted the entire gc program. Then his opt is about to expire....
What we do not know is the length of temporary pause. So overall having a pause is a terrible idea.

H1b is a temp working visa. GC is a bonus companies offer voluntarily. Not sure what’s frustration, unless it was a part of the offer.
That’s because all other companies except Microsoft all offer this bonus
Under Satya MSFT is continuously having small small layoffs throughout the company. Those layoffs Impact GC applications for that ORG. Since these layoffs are small in number they are not reported, and people don't know about those.
Guess those prominent orgs are not in the lay-off list, so its employees Should not be included in this gc pause policy?
That is not true. I worked for 6+ yrs for a small consulting company, the got kicked out. You have a false sense of entitlement for an immigration benefit that may or may not be granted to you.
Because of the ill policy , I believe many employees’ quality of life are impacted, is there a way to ask company to make up for that? Such as taking paid leave to regain strength or ask for financial makeup, lol
Wow found it hard to believe that MSFT is doing layoffs and GC Applications are on hold at the moment? First time I have heard it..
Et Tu Nutella
There's a town hall meeting about immigration on the 26th. Would be nice if someone could tune in and share the results here :)
I’d say don’t rely on the townhall too much. It’s just a public gesture of immigration team to respond the employees’ anger, so things don’t go out broken. Heard people have get in touch with the senior leadership team of the immigration team, all the answers we hoped for has gotten denied.
Could someone give more information about the town hall meeting?
Oh really? My i140 was approved during my tenure with my previous employer. What would change in my case?
You have to get a new 140 with Microsoft though, then apply for 485 when your pd is current. Since you are already on boarded. Guess you have to suffer it .... sorry, bro
Isn’t the case here just to file another 140? Does that have to tie(wait) with layoffs? Either way, 485 can be a long time for some of us
Thanks for sharing. I thought Microsoft has pretty good green card police before I saw this post...
I have the same thought too in the past. Until I find out their immigration team is so irresponsible, has no transparency. They ceased perm in the past as well now and then, people were affected by that ill policy, just nobody stood out and let the world know what Microsoft’s true policy is. I wish in the future, less people become victim, walk away from these hidden traps
