Mortgages & move to SFBay

I am moving to a new job in the SF Bay Area around Santa Clara, as part of the relocation a few banks contacted me branding themselves as relocation mortgage specialists- is it that much of a discount or special rates that they can offer? I was thinking of renting for a while but didn’t want to lose out on the discounted rates if that’s a real thing, maybe for a starter home . The banks were Chase, Quicken and Premia home loans Has anybody used these services ?

No. Just a gimmick, do not fall for this trap. I would suggest first rent for a year or so, and then think about buying.

If you have the money for a down payment (and want to buy a home), I’d suggest start looking ASAP. A year from now houses could be 6% more at least

6 is conservative. My house has gone up 20% in the last 6 months!

Any perks would be part of your relocation package. Check with your relocation folks

Chase is horrible for rates. US Bank is pretty sweet - I just got a 3.6% 10 year ARM

Rent for a while to determine what area you want to live in.
