About to move to a new gig... My first move ever, after a Very Long Time in my first job. Anyone have a checklist of things to take care of (for example, anything related to insurance if there is a two week gap, update linked in, goodbye email, etc -- each easy to remember but possible to forget)?
Where are you moving to?
1. Get contacts of people you would want to stay in touch. Add them on LinkedIn. 2. Personally inform your close associates or people who helped you grow 3. Download last few payslips and any tax docs 4. Check on your house security deposit 5. Save a copy of your PTO balance if it is reimbursed, or any other pending reimbursements, 401k docs if any 6. Meet with close friends and probably take them out for a meal. Take last few pictures 7. Update address in bank accounts, phone bills, insurance, USPS or wherever required 8. Write a going away email thanking people around you, and cc your personal id 9. Do exit formalities and save a copy of the signed document, if any 10. If you are on a visa, update the new status/employer online 11. Look how far you have come and smile
Immediately rollover your 401k into an IRA and invest it in some stocks which are way down after the October massacre! You’ll thank me 10 years from now!
I will start by thanking you now :) Going to Pinterest
