I’m moving from Tampa, Florida to Denver, Colorado in a week or so but I’m getting cold feet. I’ve been living in Tampa my whole life. I’m moving for a new job. I’m excited to experience new things but also thinking a lot about what I’m leaving behind. I’m 25yo so I saw this as a great opportunity to take while I was still young. I’m single and don’t know many people out in Denver. It’ll just be my dog and I. Anyone experience this? How did you cope?
Being nervous is natural. It will be great for your growth as a professional and as a person. They’ll only be a flight away.
I love Denver area. You will meet a lot of people if u are into outdoors and dogs. World class skiing, great hiking, mountain biking etc etc. Finding real good friends is not as easy as undergrad after u are 25 anywhere though
Moved from Mumbai to NYC. Did just fine. You’ll cope up and do well. It’s a great experience to move to new cities and start afresh 🙂
And Denver is so beautiful! You’ll have tons of things to do over weekend. If you’re an outdoor person, you’ll absolutely love it!
People move across countries and do fine. You’ll be totally ok. Chill.
Cross continents
You’ll do great. Denver is a super friendly and active city with lots of people who are originally from all over the country. Don’t doubt yourself. It will be a stretch and it may be a little uncomfortable for a bit but you got this.
I was in the same boat. I took the opportunity, got the experience and came back.
Some people move from literally other side of the world. You will live
If you have a dog, you will do fine in Denver.
You will do great in Denver, lots of very friendly people and a great place to be single. However, winter is coming and it will likely be cold at times and no daylight before and after work, dont let it get to you do fun things on the weekends like skiing. Once it warms up again join a cup in hand kickball league and you will make many friends!
It sucks dude - moved from Orlando to Seattle. Made some new friends but it’s still not the same.
How long have you been there? I heard it gets better as time goes on.
I mean it’s fine, you get used to it, don’t get me wrong. I feel more at home in Seatttle than I ever did in Orlando. The place is beautiful, it was great for the career etc etc but the older you become, the harder it gets to have that close connection with other people. I guess I moved when I was 28, so little bit further along than you, but if you have a really strong community of people in FL, it will be really hard to replicate that in Denver.
