While you guys are talking shits on Oracle here, I got the offer and decided to join them soon. I will enjoy my 50% TC boost and WLB there and you guys can GTFO! Current TC: 150k. 2yoe. Working is for a better life. If I can achieve a better life in an easy way, I will definitely go down the road. If the road is closed, I find another one.
Grats, welcome to the big O!
Is your TC before or after?
Leetcode skills?
Somewhere between 0 and none required.
Seriously? I don't know I live in a cave, hence asking.
Congratulations and welcome. WLB varies with team, though. Are you joining OCI?
Some saas team. Told I will be working on oci project. Is it good?
OCI, welcome to shit show
Yes, heard the Oracle Saas products make a lot of money and are very sticky to enterprise customers. Congrats! Btw, I have friends who work there who move between teams for growth so that’s always an option, especially if you have a proven track record.
For growth as a developer, may be. But internal transfer doesn't come with a salary bump and is mired with policy hurdles.
Internal transfers at most companies don’t come with any salary bump and yes they usually have hurdles and policies. The general exception of moving with minimal red tape is if you work for a startup and there is too much work to be done to be bogged down by policies.
Currently compensation reviews happen every new fiscal year (June) so consider that in your comp request. Promotion and comp are not one for one at OCI. You can get promoted without a comp adjustment.
FYI, it takes about 5 weeks to get a written offer, background check and a start date. This is with no visa.
Welcome to Oracle! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Lol! Congratulations! Oracle is steady horse 🐎 wins the race! Not flashy!
