My car got scraped

I wake up thinking I’d go for a nice drive and turns out my bumper got scraped all over one side last night. Plastic bumper cracked and looks terrible but structurally intact. This’ll probably cost me $1000 to fix. I do have comprehensive coverage and a $500 deductible, but is it worth the premiums I’d have to pay in the long run? What the Blind think?

Get a dashcam with parking mode, if your apartment has kids like this.

Good tip

Any recommended models of dashcam which has been tested good enough , you would recommend ?

How did you get the scrape? what happened is important because it determines if you use your compressive or collision coverage. If the accident falls under comprehensive coverage, your rates won’t go up. If you use your collision coverage and it is determined that you are at fault, your rates will likely increase.

My car was parked and I guess the guy behind me tried to get out and accidentally scraped it pulling out. I didn’t witness it though.

That's an unattended hit and run if no insurance info was left

A comp claim shouldn't increase your rate.

I hope so?

This isn’t a comp claim

a bit of brake fluid will buff out the paint scratches, would test on the inside of your hood first to ensure it doesnt actually dissolve the paint itself though

Try to find the color number and fix yourself IMO unless it’s a newer car like 2015+

Amazon Dr. Savage OP Jan 20, 2019

Yeah I might just try doing it myself. Damn.

Maybe you can figure what car hit you by looking around 2 or 3 days?
