Negotiate Facebook T4 offer to get T5?
Kind people at Facebook- what are the chances that I will be able to negotiate a T4 offer from FB to instead get T5? Had interviewed for a T5 role. Currently L6 at Amazon.
Would be foolish to take that downleveled role. Do not do it. Try again in 6 months. L6 scope is huge, and would be donwngrading yourself big time.
+1 I feel that the scope of a SDE3 role at Amazon is similar to that of fb T6 or high-end T5s (T5 who will become T6 soon). My friend at fb became T4 in one year and he had no prior experience. Do you think your skills are equivalent to that of him?
Agreed with the person above. Not worth going for E4 from an Amazon L6.
Nothing wrong with taking a 4 and proving yourself and learning the very different ropes. Expectations at 5 can be stressful.
It will be stupid of him to take up a T4 role. At least Google will be ready to pay him T5 level comp even if he is hired as T4 but FB wouldn't even do that. If you are unsure about a candidate performing well at a role, it is better to reject them than down level them badly. This is just my opinion. College grads at FB become T5 in 3 years or less 😂🤣
Big mistake. I've did that when interviewing for L6 at Amazon I accepted a L5 to "show I can work at the Amazon scale". The recruiter said I'd get back on track within few months. Bullshit! Now I'm stack in a promotion process that will take, at least, two more years.

Thanks for the inputs everyone. I simply cannot accept T4. Will offer to do more interviews to prove myself a T5 and leave it if that does not work out. The whole point of moving out of Amazon is getting bigger scope and impact.
Final update: Decided to not take T4. They were willing to offer multiple roles to choose from and bump up TC to low-T5 range (only vague assurances, never got to see an actual offer) but it is too much of a downleveling from where I am at. Thanks for the advice, guys.
