Netflix saying they can't match or beat my current TC. How can this be true given the culture deck?

Agreed... assuming youโ€™re SWE, PM, DS, etc... NFLIX would be happy to match that

Well assuming you are at Amazon since 3/4 years your TC is actually so inflated compared to your target compensation due to share price madndss, that's probably what they can't beat.

Stock inflation doesnโ€™t count as your market value TC.

It means you are currently overpaid and you should stay where you are.

This is why it is so hard to leave or get promote. Your compensation is way out of whack compare to outside compensation.

Why does that make it hard to get promoted?

It makes it difficult to want to get promoted when getting promoted means more responsibility for no additional money.

It's true because they pay what they feel is correct for what they beleive your level to be, therefore they probably beleive you are over compensated for your level.
