No travel expense (parking/uber/public transportation) reimbursement from South bay to SF on-site interview. Is it common?
Fb reimbursed my Uber on the same route. Itโs well over $100 round trip. If the company is good I would let this slide, but itโs absolutely expected of them to reimburse this.
That's very much my experience, too. I didn't have lots of interview experiences, but this is the first time a company said no to travel expense reimbursement.
Would you expect them to pay for your daily commute too?
You can definitely check with the recruiter but donโt be surprised if they say itโs a local trip and hence not reimbursable. And I donโt think itโs wrong - itโs like commuting from one end to another in a large city
No I don't think it's wrong. This is my first on-site interview that doesn't reimburse travel expenses. Given I didn't interview a lot, I am wondering if this is the norm or not.
Pretty common, had a recruiter venmo me from his personal account when I asked for parking
Such a nice recruiter. I guess you did very well so he/she would very much want you to accept the offer?
no I got rejected but he didn't know that yet
If interview is over 75mi, generally you get reimbursed. If it's considered something within normal commuting range, then no. That being said for both local and non-local, I have been reimbursed sometimes after accepting an offer, and it's my first expense check written day 1.
Amazon reimbursed me for a 4 mile Lyft for me when I went onsite
How far can we take this? I live in Belltown. Maybe I should try it.
I asked beforehand whether they would. Plus they don't have much parking available so that played a factor in it.
Yep, you are โlocalโ
Even local they should pay for your taxi/Uber.
Yes true no one pays.
