I have a big fear of living cost of SF, I have a offer I would appreciate if folks can advice if this could be a go or no go, I have 2 kids, no wife no debt, thinking of 3500/month for rent Company is in fintech, located in SF Base 180 12.5 bonus With some equity Sign up : 15k I have a little shy of 10 years of mobile experience, In total have 12.5 yrs of exp in all Would appreciate some feedback here, I do not plan to live in proper SF nor MV area
You’ll be able to live comfortably as long as you don’t have a family to support
With the update to the original post, I personally would not take the current offer. You’ll net maybe $9,500/mo but with rent and 2 kids (which equals endless other expenses), you’ll have very little to save for rainy day. PS: The salary/TC is low based on your experience.
Does your wife work? How much can she add to your income? Public schools suck unless your in a high cost of living area. Or a far commute off. Can you work from home few days a week?
Re-read. Agree with everyone else. If no partner to add to income, don't do it. You'll save nothing. And God forbid you have some sort of situation where you need money for rainy day, you'll be in a bad situation. Where are you now?
🤔👎🏻
180 isn't great if you are the sole income earner. You will have to live far away from SF. A long commute is a huge negative for quality of life. I mean, you could probably live in Antioch with that salary. But why move here if you have to live in Antioch.
kids in daycare or school? that might be a huge differentiator
just reread, no second source of income? you'll likely have to compromise a ton somewhere. long commute which is going to mean more childcare. probably going to be hard to save any money, too. you'll never be able to buy a house.
School
Do yourself a favor and don't do it. 2 kids with no wifey = baby sitters. You couldn't swing rent, baby sitter and/or private school tuition on 180 here in the bay. It sucks....if you were single no kids...no problem. Do yourself a favor and do the same job somewhere else out of CA and have a better life
Dude for a mobile dev that sounds low. My iOS dev here at Postmates makes 200k+ in base.
Fintech doesn’t pay that much in my opinion.
Rent for 1b1b in daly city's ~2500, 2b2b is ~3k...add education, after school, food etc...hope u have decent savings/family members who can help take care of kids...
Wife? Kids? Debt?
