Pre IPO purchase

Has anyone bought shares pre-IPO? Other than employees and big investors can an outsider own it's stock, if yes how?

Secondary markets. Most probably you shouldn't do it if you don't know how to do it. It's a risky gamble. SharesPost and EquityZen are two of the most popular platforms that facilitate pre-ipo exchange.

It's feasible but it needs to be valuable to the company. If you're just J Random Techguy, they probably won't care. Uber let a bunch of stars buy in early and then cash out in later rounds.

I enrolled for an account on EquityZen and closely following their offerings. Most of the offerings seem to be wildly different from previous rounds : upto 45% up or down. As such I see this route as risky as buying Stocks - at least with stocks they are regulated.

Why don’t you do crypto instead?

Thank you for your comments. Doing crypto to me feels more risky. I am a long term person, for that reason I don't trade daily, weekly or monthly. If I know that some company would be doing good then getting a position pre IPO may make sense. As with IPO typically the stock bounces quite high. I feel the risk given my long term position would be better than with crypto. With Sharespost and Equityzen can I transfer the stocks to regular brokerage accounts for normal transactions or have to sell on those two accounts?

I work for the PreIPO Group, we have shares of AirBnB, Impossible Foods, SoFi, SpaceX and more. We had shares of Snowflake at $51 and Palantir at $5.75. If you are interested reach out to me at 973-204-0059.
