What are some interesting projects at Google that require C++? I can imagine that there are plenty of projects written in C++ at Google but not all of them really require C++. Some REST pass-thought services can easily be written in any other language and be as efficient as if they were written in C++. Apparently, if you are a true "C++ mindset" engineer there is very limited spectrum employer/projects that might be interesting to work on. Self-driving cars for sure is one of them. If we skip Waymo, what other projects at Google that could be interesting for C++ engineers. C++ buzzwords: network, cache, multithreading, performance, resources. I skip graphics and visualization cuz it's a separate domain that I don't want to deal with it. #google #cpp

I never really understood why some are so beholden to a specific language. In my past I’ve done Ada, C, C++, Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby. I feel focus on CS fundamentals and be open to use different tools for different jobs.
+1! I actually enjoy learning new languages, so a job in a language I don't know is more compelling than one in a language I do know.
Well, I like to be proficient with tools that I use. Learning language is not that had, learning its aspect takes much more. It also a matter of preference. Someone likes green color, someone like apples, someone like C++. I for sure can write in other languages, I just don’t enjoy it.
Chrome. Parts of Android.
Maybe Stadia?
Most of the infrastructure is in C++. There, performance is important.
