Just made it through the process but haven’t had the compensation discussion yet. Senior role in one of their field teams, based in Seattle.

Any idea on compensation, stock, etc?

Not sure on compensation. One thing you should be acutely aware of is what level you will come in at. If you come in at the top of a level your raises will be capped. You're also not eligible for a promotion for 2+ years. Push more for level than you do for pay. Don't accept without knowing your level and where you stand in band and hierarchy. Better to be low pay in a high band than high pay in a low band

In my opinion, it’s better to get top of the band pay for lower level because it means you get paid max money for less responsibility. Also changing jobs every one to two years helps because you don’t have to play the waiting game for promos either. Just keep hopping and negotiate top of the band pay at every place.

How do you know where you stand in band for the level you got? I don’t think recruiters will tell you that.

I'm just giving advice for Qualtrics, not all over.

At qualtrics you get big raises every 6 months if you're low in the band. If you're high in the band you get token raises

I understand that you give advice for Qualtrics. I am asking about Qualtrics as well. How do you know where you stand in band before starting working there? Also, how about refreshers? How are they given? Token raises meaning no raise? Or very small like 100-200$?

I’m a little surprised - the offer was well below what I make now (and I even told them what I make now).

In your experience how willing were they to negotiate?

I’m waiting on level - I asked the recruiter.

You'll get good raises, but won't get a promotion for 2 years. You start getting stock at L5. You can negotiate that offer up

Yep. SAP policy. Engineering L3+ gets stock still

Engineering RSUs amount is the same as before or lower with SAP? Btw, what is the range for L6s?

TC I'm not sure, and I don't know the l6 range. It's definitely more base now, and less stock

This has changed significantly with the SAP component.

Level 1 employees no longer get equity and their salaries are no longer negotiable, but you’re applying for a role much higher than that and also in BU that will expect you to counter.

I do not work there, but got an offer a couple years back and comp was *not* competitive then and from what I hear (a dozen friends work there) that hasn’t changed all that much.

When you say Sr. Role, I assume this isn’t in Sales?

Not sales, no. Hard to say more without giving anything away, but it’s not an SDE role. As is explained to me, it’s probably similar to a TPM in responsibilities.

Like you said, the SAP acquisition has changed things and I have no idea what to expect since I’m not sure if the data available is still valid post-SAP.

But thank you for your input!

      Gotcha.

I wish I had better info.

3 years ago, those roles got ~2,500-5,000 RSU and salary was between $95-120k.

      Best of luck to you!

They are fairly willing to negotiate. What they will tell you is "we will have to go back to committee and you may lose your offer if we go for higher level.

Absolutely DO NOT accept an offer without knowing your band and where you stand in it. For example, I'm high in my band, got significantly exceeds expectations, and only got a token raise (2.5%, no refresher). While people I manage who are low in the band who met expectations got about a 10% raise.

Where you are in a band, much more than your performance, will determine future increases. You want to come in low in the band - it's a long way of saying "negotiate level over everything"

I agree on thinking about future compensation. What is the current situation with stock refreshers? How are they given? What is the difference between meets all rating and exceeds in terms of stock refreshers?

I'm not sure what the difference e in refreshers are. I can tell you I have been here for almost 2 years. Exceeded expectations for first 9 months. Greatly exceeded for the next twelve. Zero refreshers and no promotion. When they say to not expect a promotion for 2 years, they mean that - regardless of performance

Seems like similar to Amzn model. If your initial grants were very high, you don’t get refreshers. But you got very good bonuses for great perf, right?

      30% bonus for greatly exceeds

Cool! We don’t have bonuses at amzn. So if you initial grants are high, you may not get anything at all, no bonus no refresh. So your case is still better.

So the offer was 120k (no sign-on bonus or stock) for L4. In their field.

Seems like a lowball offer? I’m L62 now
