Did well in the final round of on-site interviews for DE at FB. Felt good about it, but knew the bar was really high, and sure enough got the rejection email a few days later. In the email, in so many words, they say, "you're a strong candidate and we would like to keep your application in our queue and reach out to you in a few months to reconnect." Probably BS, but what is the reapplication process or timeline like? Is it even reasonable to prep for it?
It’s BS. You can reconnect in 6-12 months.
Sorry to hear that. The normal reapplication time for them is 12 months. But they will shorten that for particularly strong candidates.
Thanks for the info, appreciate the response. Do you know if you start with a blank slate for the second application? Or do they calibrate based on your performance the first time around?
I don't know that exact info. I got an offer there after having been denied for a similar engineering role about 3 years prior. Having done on-sites previously helped me get an interview instantly by reaching out to recruiters directly.
Why u want to reapply to a shop that looked u down?
DE = distinguished engineer?
Probably data engineering. A distinguished engineer wouldn't get rejected, just a lower than desirable offer at the very least
So what rounds were there and what were you evaluated on OP?
Just move on
