Did your chances of landing a job or at least an interview increased dramatically or am I just a victim of the grass is always greener on the other side effect? TC 250 #h1b #greencard #jobmarket
It helps that you have time to explore and try a different role if someone is willing to take a chance on you, otherwise most HMs prefers someone who makes no noise (read H1B).
If you’re talking about now it’s just a market.
I really wish more H1b folks bothered to talk to more citizens and older immigrants. They don’t actually bother to understand how laws in this country work and how the “advantage” of citizens is not as much as they think. Except for startups that don’t sponsor at all, there’s no real advantage tbh because it’s illegal to discriminate on that basis alone. The main advantage is that no one can physically deport you as a citizen. Luckily, that’s been taken into consideration recently and they’ve relaxed the rules. Saw 0 difference in my job search & opportunities before and after. Just saved some few dollars in international visits that I had to plan around my stamping dates nothing else really. No change is actually surprising, considering more jobs opportunity from smaller companies should be opening without worrying about work authorisation
Smaller companies = bad pay, no stocks. Bigger companies = woke Real subtle but still a problem
When you get a GC you will be qualified for unemployment benefits instead of a risk to fall out of status when laid off. That's pretty much all the gains. Sometimes you might run into small startups that do not want to deal with Visa transfer, but that's not very common.
Unemployment benefits won’t pay for anything it’s not a fallback main thing is you won’t have to leave and you can use your savings
Well, it's still the money that are paid to you vs not paid to you. Yes, the payout is laughable, but better than 0. Of course different immigration status is way more important.
If you are targeting faang type or late stage startups no change … outside tech and early stage startups there is a material difference
I learned here that your chances decreases as companies only hire immigranta bc they are woke and hate hardworking white americans
