Renting on Airbnb while on H1b visa?
I’m on H1b visa & I’m looking to list a portion of my house on Airbnb. Am I allowed to do this?

Yes you can. But I would recommend pay the 200 bucks , get a lawyer’s opinion and you will have the peace of mind that you are not doing anything illegal.

Yes you can own any business but not work any other job, eg who can own shares and make money from it, you can buy a home and rent it. Airbnb is a grey area as you will have to work(clean the house etc), so I suggest you hire a cleaner and pay them a min amount for weekly cleaning. That way you can show that you own it but don’t work for it. Doing it for many years, PM if needed

Yes, you can. I have been doing it for past 3 years. I have consulted couple of immigration lawyers and Airbnb income is considered as “rental” income. So it would be similar to you being on h1b and renting out part of your home. It doesn’t violate any of the immigration laws. As long as you follow all the city rental regulations and declare that income in your tax returns, you should be ok.
