How come salaries at agencies and consultancies never even get close to salary at FANG or major tech companies?
What kind of consultancies?
Because companies like Netflix or google see a return per developer in the millions per year, and an agency doesn’t.
In consultancies, the billable people have to pay for all the overhead / non-billable staff (managers, execs, administrative staff). So there is not a lot of meat on the bone to pay what FANG will pay (not even close). This is why I left the consultancy world. I would not make anywhere close to what I make now.
Did you change just the company or even your career?
Because their margins are smaller? Edit: margin
