I have received an offer from Salesforce for Sr MTS position in San Francisco. I have asked the recruiter and the hiring manager to move me to Toronto after a year and a half and they seem to be ok with it. Do we anyone in the community who has moved from the Bay area to Canada working for Salesforce. I would want to know any change in the compensation package and any unforeseen cons out their with this option. Moreover how easy is it working from their Toronto office in downtown. If anyone could share their reviews it would be awesome. Thanks.
I think there would be a base pay adjustment downwards, not sure of amounts. Also not sure if it makes any difference with stocks. Moving a year and half later is so far away that a lot would change so don't hold your breath. I know one person who's done the move so it's definitely possible and Salesforce is very remote work friendly.
There will definitely be a change in comp if you move from SF to Toronto. Mostly it'll be way less.
Thanks so much for the inputs. I understand that there will be a pay cut. What I get is that I’ll discuss the salary change and with the recruiter and ask them to write about the eventual move in the offer letter. I would also need to touch base with him regarding the RSUs and any change associated to them.
I highly doubt if they will honor that commitment. Many people have asked for relocation and it never gets approved unless you are super valuable to the company.
You manager is the only one that really matters. After a year discuss it with your manager and/or switch to a team with remote folks. Most Toronto devs work remotely, only about 5 or so in the office from what I’ve heard. Here in vancouver there are many.
I don’t think they will adjust down the RSU. Once the grant is locked in it’s in.
Thanks for letting me know.
Did you move to Toronto? What salary did they offer you?
Yes I did. It was 165k here
Is it base or TC?
Don’t know any. Make sure you have all these commitments in writing. Also regarding compensation change when moving to Canada you can ask your recruiter and/or manager and they should be able to help. Your recruiter should have access to sf pay in Toronto. Only con I can think of is leadership change asking remote employees to move to different teams or location.
