Do you feel that Samsara is essentially putting asses in seats lately, rather than focusing on strong candidates? Hyper growth companies tend to make that mistake.
I can’t speak for every department, but I do believe we slightly overhired. The CML sales team is actually on a hiring freeze, except for internal promotions (ADR —> AE). I would say that talent is pretty strong within the team. Everybody has different selling styles and personalities though.
How is quota attainment? OTE for solid performers?
Why the fuck do they hire only talent from. Top schools and why do they make candidates do free work in the name of coding interview
This is an engineering question, so as a sales rep I can’t really provide any personal opinion on this, especially on the coding interviews. But in regards to where the engineering team hires from, I guess people are comfortable with associations, as both co-founders are from MIT. Also, past experience and relationships at Meraki go a long way here. Not the first person to say this.
The interview questions are not free work... they are pretty simplified toy examples of things we have already solved at a much more complex scale. We don't want to ask you how to balance a tree, we want to ask you real world problems to best figure out how well you'd do in a real world situation... Also we don't hire just from top schools, there is definitely over representation due to referrals and typical startup lack of resources (our university recruiting team is 2 people) so we like MANY other startups just visit the top 10 CS schools. However we source heavily from other avenues and events in the past year we went to /dev/color, AfroTech, GHC, O4U, and more. We also go to things like greylock and of course have a ton of inbound applicants especially after we were listed as the 3rd best startup to work for by LinkedIn. We also have a lot of bootcamp graduates. I don't feel that there is any sort of elitist tech school culture here. Sorry you took the interview experience so personally.
What does equity comp looks like?Benefits? Pros and cons of working there? Ranking in market? How’s churn and retention of the customer base? Interested in applying in January so hoping to learn more beforehand. Thanks! 🙏
Lots of questions, I’ll get back to you with a more thorough answer.

Hello, I had a Recruitor view my profile after I applied. The role is a major account executive role. Could you give me an idea for base and total comp structure for that role? Also, stock, etc.?
Are you still at Samsara? Mind if I ask you a few questions?
Wtf is Samsara?
