When will the majority of all commercial cars be automated on the streets? I personally hate driving and wondering when this could be the case? What are the current limitations to having majority self driving cars on the road? Not too educated on this topic and wanted to ask Blind
I just want it to be here so that old folk dont have to drive themselves anymore.
The elephant in the room for self driving cars is you'd be expected to keep watching the road and be constantly vigilant in case of an emergency. I can't do that unless I'm actually driving. Pass on that until I can legally fall asleep at the wheel.
What you described is not self driving, to be clear, it is driving assist
Not in the public's mind. For example, when Uber's car had an accident last year, everyone call it self driving even though the driver was expected to be paying attention and was on her phone at the time.
I love driving and I ride my motorcycle too often I aint giving my wheel
IMO the lawyers and getting sued will prevent this for years. Time will tell
It will be sooner than you think. Renewable energy was supposed to take a long time to be economically feasible. Suddenly it’s cheaper than fossil fuel.
I misread Pandora’s comment above as how every car would be vigilant. Did not think about it before - how we will end up with more cameras per head with real time analysis of every step you take. Imagine the aggregated intelligence from mining this treasure trove - forget intrusive ads by big corporations, what worries me are the potential misuses of it in the hands of the powerful governments.
I am hoping it will catch crimes.
Honestly, get a horse and carriage. Horses already know how to head down the road. Newer carriage models with Android Auto are pretty slick, and you can just kick back 'til you get where you're going.
2 decades
Nobody, except maybe TSLA, is intending to do this. The self driving car companies are all competing for the ride share business and not the consumer car sales market. This is a common misunderstanding.
Always in three to five years, according to the news or Company PR. So you know what I mean
3 to 5 years is when they say the first fully self driving cars will be available. As for when the *majority* will be self driving, that'll take a lot longer I'd estimate 20+ years
You actually miss what I mean... I am trying to say three years ago they claim in three to five years. And look at now, nobody is ready. I think it is nowhere near ready for the mass
