I was been interview by relatively high end tech firm ( but unstable it seems ). I applied for position A but during interview, one of the hiring manager saw my skills more aligned to what he was looking for his team, so there could be a little bit of crash between two team behind the scene. ( there is more on this ) So, now after 3 rounds, 3rd round consists on 3 face to face rounds, I got a mail from HR saying she wanna have a talk, I didnt know that my interview was over and I was under the impression that they wanted to schedule for next round of interview etc but bam she was on the call with the whole different tone of compensation and negotiation. Unfortunately I wasnt prepared for my expected compensation not to mention, I didnt even looked at her previous mail at which she had send HR related stuffs to be completed. So needless to say that conversation went downhill, she want me to give her my expected compensation in number’s which I didnt had any and so, she mentioned XYZ but we reached to the conclusion that this is not an offer, its just a discussion and I am yet to know if I cleared all rounds. In next weeks, I followed up with couple of mails, asking the status but no responses. So after 2 weeks, I assumed its dead end. Surprisingly one night I received a background check mail , which I responded immediately and then the following day, an offer lands on my mail. The offer had compensation even below what she said she was expecting me to quote and there were other stuffs but it was clear I got 3 days to sign it. I wrote back to all members saying, are they low balling? using some nice polite terms and asked them to call me back because we need to negotiate the terms but no responses? On very last day of signing, I signed their contract in the last minutes ( I wasn’t sure if I should sign ). Its been a week after that and no responses or conversation from their end.
WTF did I just read..
You got no response to your request to discuss comp but went ahead and signed anyway? Why would you do that???
Mostly coz their offer wasnt that horrible, Their base was what in par with most of the team firm. My assumption was 1. Its HR who has issue ( after the messy conversation and I dont have to work with HR ) 2. My impression is that hiring manager pushed HR to offer me even tho she clearly showed no interest to go forward. 3. I need a switch in work environment and my other interviews are underprocess, so went with the notion that I should not lose the bird in the hand. 4. The work they are doing seems interesting not to mention in better location. This clearly is HR issue but being a relatively unstable work place I wonder if I should back off considering job security going forward.
That's a lot of benefits that you mentioned, but you have now given up all ability to negotiate by signing. If you think you'll enjoy the work and your current environment is no better, then is there really any harm in trying the new role?
I think you should not work for any high end tech firm. Seems like mental instability scenario to me......just quit.
this sounds like a train wreck, on your end
This post itself is late... should have posted prior to signing. Blind is more for advice/opinions prior to shitstorm. Using it to rectify situation can be more harm than good since you'll get troll response as well.
