I work as a software engineer, and have never officially been a scrum master. But I took the class and received certification from Scrum Alliance. It expires every couple of years and you have to pay to renew. Is it worth it? I like having the certification on my resume, but don't feel like I get any real value from it.
honestly when i see that i roll my eyes, and assume the person isnt a good engineer if they need to latch on to that
The only benefit of renewing your scrum master certificate is to the consulting company who once had this discussion: “Guys, how can we make some easy money? ICOs are off the table, don’t want something borderline illegal.” “Let’s come up with this project methodology called Scrum and get people certified for good $$” “Cool! But that’s not recurring revenue and hard work.” “So let’s say you can only keep your certification if you pay us every year. Maybe let’s give one or two years free initially.” “You sure this is not illegal?” “How would it be? Who would sue us admitting they’re plain dumb?” I’ll let out a secret: no one gives a damn if you’re a certified scrum master. Not the recruiter, not the hiring manager, not any interviewers and definitely not any of your colleagues.
All you end up doing is put jira tickets and ask devs to prioritize it. A 12th grade kid these days can do it. Why need a special scrum master certificate? I see it more like a scum master
That’s product owners job. Scrum master has to ensure that the engineers and the PO don’t kill each other
You can leave it without renewing. No one will verify if your certificate id is renewed or not.
I have never seen anyone more useless than a scrum master. They are just referees.
As a dev no. You can always get it again. As a scrum master you don’t need one either but makes sense to keep it if you have it.
NO
Even our scrum master who has 20 yoe does not have that.
S/He's a con artist
No.
