Should you share important passwords with ur spouse? Banks, emails, 401k etc.

Especially during emergencies should ur spouse know your passwords?

You should never, ever, ever share your password with anyone. Except your lawyer. Tell your lawyer the first half of your password. Once. But make sure it’s too complicated for the lawyer to remember. Add another login? Maybe. But never share passwords.

Why your lawyer? And why half your password?

Microsoft Tier 1 Jul 13, 2018

To protect the password under attorney client privilege, while either half of the password (the half the attorney potentially knows, or the half that’s not protected by attorney client privilege) is not sufficient to break in even with substantial efforts to brute force.

Where is the "I am single and not looking for someone to share the password with"?

My wife knows where to find the master key for my Keepass safe if I'm incapacitated. We share passwords for joint, non-personal stuff that doesn't support multiple logins (most of our utilities) and for the non day to day financial accounts. Email, FB, and day to day checking accounts etc we don't

Oath DEADBEEFAF Jul 13, 2018

Only if it’s a shared/joint account

Amazon zorch Jul 14, 2018

Joint accounts and utilities, yes. Personal accounts, email, social media, hell no. If a potential SO asks for it as "relationship and trust", next them.

Only thing to share with wife is bed.

I don't share passwords with spouse. Most things can have their passwords reset thought mobile/email. Gmail allows you to handover control of your account if it becomes inactive (https://myaccount.google.com/inactive).
