Some questions for snap folks.

How are L7 SWE/ML offers at Snapchat for Bay Area?
How are the refreshers and bonus?
Snap used to have identical offer for a given level. Do they still have the same policy?
What is the scope of the role?
What is the process to switch to management?

    Huge but I’d be stunned if you got offered that. Snaps 7 is like Facebook’s 8. I think I knew maybe 1 or 2 in the whole company and I spent 4 years there. In my opinion, it’s not worth working there (unless you’re straight money chasing and don’t care about QoL).

      TheDude sounds like a troll, if he spent 4 years at snap and only knew 1-2 7s and thought they were 8s at FB. Also QoL is great at Snap if you want it to be. There are so many 7s and 8s that hardly do anything, and there is no pressure on them, while there are other 7s and 8s that kill themselves. It's very political at those levels.

      Keep in mind that Snap is well reputed to have HR throw propaganda on blind and gang report posts that are unfavorable. Don’t believe me I was there for that long? Go ahead and quiz me about any aspect of the company that only internal people would know. Happy to demonstrate. I worked everywhere from market to OFW to SaMo to other areas.

      Maybe that’s how it is now for 7s and 8s but when I left around 1.5-2y ago that was not the case at all.

      I have been at snap for 4 years, and all the L7 hires around that time were more like L6 and got hired at 7 for many reasons. Definitely not FB 8 level. Which FB teams do you know 8s that perform like our 7s. I know 6s at Google and FB that are performing at our 7 level and actually got hired at 7 (multiple cases over the last 4 years)

      I am going to guess Snap offered him $750k+. He was e6 here (so $500k)

      Hard to imagine he got 750k if he moved form E6 at FB. He most probably got L6 at snap, which should be around 1.6M rsu and 230k salary, so comes to 650ish

      There is no yearly cash bonus in Snap, right? But I guess there is RSU refreshes. Also for L5, is 800K-1 million reasonable RSU to begin with?

    Snap pays more than pretty much anywhere else. The company knows it's the only way to convince the best people to join and is making a long term bet on the quality of engineers. As a result the Bay Area office is just as strong people wise as the best teams at Google/Facebook

      I think ~2 years ago Stock price was around the same and L5 offers were 1.7M (with older vesting schedule). Any idea how is L5 offers now?
