SpaceX or other Aerospace Company Pay and Refferal?
Has anybody here worked for SpaceX or any other aerospace companies in the software engineering sector? I would love a referral.. Its always been my dream to work in that industry, but I hear pay isn’t so great. Currently self employed/freelancing. 3 years of experience. Specialized in mobile apps. TC=100k
There are so many other aerospace companies: Northrop, Raytheon, Teledyne. There's also consulting firms for them: Booz Allen Hamilton
DM for more info. Pay isn’t as good as FAANG but good WLB and benefits help make up some albeit not all of the gap.
But Boeing is known for mass hiring and mass firing every few years. Dont recommend Boeing unless you are a grad and want some experience
Maybe Boeing of old, they’re currently very top heavy in terms of age and expecting a lot of boomers to retire over the next 5 years. If you’re less than 45-50 you’re safe. Not to mention they have orders for over 10k planes across different models on backlog worth over half a trillion dollars that will keep them very profitable for atleast the next 20-25 years.
You may be surprised with what SpaceX is paying, if they want to bring you in they will make it worth your time. I'd highly recommend pursuing it, I'm sure glad I'm here. Not many other places you can have the same impact.

Agree with bluesky. If you can get into SpaceX software you should. Software org is totally different from horror stories you might have heard. And much better pay than big aero
Location is important. Go to CA or CO if chasing total comp. TX, AL, and AZ pay less, even relative to COL
