5 years experience... Masters in finance. I'm starting to think I want to switch into a more BA job.... What should I be doing now to prep for interviews? I plan to start applying in the summer. SQL? Any suggestions where to learn it? TC: $80k
Get into ERP domain for either oracle or sap and u should be fine. Use your finance knowledge for domain expertise and get some erp training to be hands on.
I do use SAP in my current job... All finance related reporting. Is there anything in particular I should learn with it? Or will simply saying I have experience with the software good enough to get into a BA job?
Apple/coke/bmw uses Sap. As a Ba u should have good system knowledge which means understanding how modules integrate, how to configure them and how to apply business rules to Meet business requirements is one of the basic req for being a business analyst.
Depends what you want to do. Is your goal to practice heavier in mathematical methods? Programming? Financial engineering?
My passion is in line with managing workflows and automating processes. Are there other job titles I should look into that does that?
Maybe financial operations analyst is what you're looking for?
There maybe few things you might want to work on: 1. Case study and root cause analysis 2. SQL and/or python/R 3. Visualization tools : tableau, looker etc Also try to understand basics concepts of Statistics (AB testing, p-value, t-test, type I & II error etc) Most important work on your communication skills. Learn how to tell a story. Try to understand what the interviewer is trying to ask. Make use of the hints he/she gives you in the interview. Hope it helps.
Codecademy has great free interactive sql courses.
