My Uber onsite is coming up in two weeks. PracticeCodingInterview and gainlo both offer system design interviews at about 200$ per each interview. There is also Pramp which is free but not as good. I do not have a job at the moment and 200$ is a lot of money for me. Considering that system design needs a whiteboard, I am wondering if they would be as helpful over the phone. I have had 3-4 system design interviews before but I never received feedbacks, so I do not know how good I am. Do you recommend them? or do you have better options in mind?
I just did mine recently. Honestly its just about thinking about a system as a whole. How the individual pieces effect the whole. You don’t need to have all the answers. This interview is part of what determines your level and really starts separating more senior and junior candidates. I wouldn’t spend the $200 if I were you. There are so many good youtube videos on this topic and it mainly just takes some time on your part diving deep into some example systems.
Have you tried, interviewing.io? They have system design interviews of good quality and free
Apparently, it has a waitlist?
Register with company id.. I waited for 2 years for interviewing.io but didn't get the invitation but the moment I registered with my office id, I got the reply/registered/access in couple of minutes...
Don’t think you need it , no one expects a lot from a student
I should have said, I am phd student, so they usually expect system design
Oh yes that changes things lol. Maybe do one mock and see if U gain anything . I wont do it without practicing first though
Try expertmitra. It's affordable. They charge 60$ I guess. What do you expect from mock interviews is main point ? It might help to Boost your confidence and find your weakness ?
Mostly finding my weaknesses. I have watched videos and taken system design interviews. Now I'm in a point where I don't know how to improve anymore. The person must be expert to point out my weaknesses.
I would not underestimate the power of mock interviews and please don’t do it with someone who is not at the top tier and is not the best in that top tier organization , preferably someone who has a lot of experience hiring - like bar raiser at amazon . Now you are not going to find someone for 60$ who is good - and can provide some really meaningful feedback . If the retail price is 60 the interviewer would probably making 30-40$ . Who in the right mind will do it , until he is a philanthropic in that case he might as well do it for free and get some good karma.
I would've liked to but Can't find anyone. Even if they're in top tier companies doesn't mean they are good at it
I totally get that , I do run a service that connects you with them , but the price is pretty similar to the other ones you listed .. since you don’t have a job I can give you a discount or do a pay after job contract ..
Dm me, I can help you.
