TPM at FB vs Engineering mgr at Microsoft L65
Which option would you choose for a long term career perspective? If compensation is both the roles are in the same ball park. Both roles are in Seattle. In Facebook the technology seems interesting.

Why would you go for being a TPM? It’s not a great role. It doesn’t matter if the work is interesting, you won’t really be involved in much of it.

The EM is ultimately accountable for what the team does. They are responsible for staffing, strategy and execution. They can lean on others for parts of this but the buck stops with them. A TPM is just a glorified note taker.
Engineering manager without a doubt. Why’d you go for TPM??
Technology seems more exciting. But don’t know if that really what matters in the long run. That’s the reason I asked the question
