Take get fired or leave as managed out

Boss told me baecause he needs functional expert. Not in the JD. So he asked me to leave after 8 weeks. He is also helping me to find any internal positions outside this department. It is only 6 months I joined. My worry is do I have to pay my sign bonus back in either conditions?

Was there any wording in the contract about the return of joining fee?

Intel Jane D OP Jan 16, 2019

Yes there is clause about if I leave or they terminate for cause

VMware PJLD43 Jan 16, 2019

Is there a time period? How much is the joining bonus? If you can find another job with a similar joining bonus then probably switch. Otherwise you should search internally and live out the period in the clause

Take fired and neither pay bonus.

KPMG None! Jan 16, 2019

Your boss needs to get fired.

Intel Jane D OP Jan 16, 2019

Any specific reason if may ask?

TripAdvisor owlwise Jan 16, 2019

Coz he failed at hiring the right person and now doesn't wanna train

Microsoft Dulqer Jan 16, 2019

Your boss is an asshole

Intel Jane D OP Jan 16, 2019

Personally he is not. But they are running shop very unorganized.

What group is this?

Get fired so you can claim that sweet severance

Intel Jane D OP Jan 16, 2019

What severance? You mean unemployment benefit?

VMware vLol Jan 16, 2019

Look up Intel's severance policy: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/employee/leaving-intel.html 1 to 4 paychecks, dunno how it scales. Severance is also different from unemployment (pretty sure they stack, too).

Deloitte FHAs14 Jan 16, 2019

Keep your bonus. That is the LEAST he can do.

Amazon n0v Jan 16, 2019

Negotiate to leave the company while keeping the bonus.

Intel (⌐■_■) Jan 16, 2019

This is some Amazon level shit.

Microsoft SenoritaWE Jan 16, 2019

Get laid off, get unemployment. Do not quit otherwise no unemployment

Intuit ihdfg Jan 17, 2019

How do you get laid off when there is no lay-off in the company? Do you mean mutual agreement separation?

@OP :What does it take for you to become an “functional expert” ?

Intel Jane D OP Jan 18, 2019

Every company has specific things related to let's say manufacturing, supply chain or something. Experience from previous jobs may be irrelevant in particular scenarios. It takes a bit of time or some one has to coach you along the way. If manager or someone not investing time , you arenot set up for success. It takes bit longer time to figure out. Functional experience come from your learning on the job. Can only be accelerated through mentoring.
