Be nice to H1B people
A friend at Amazon moved out to NYC in early September to work at a hedge fund. Here in Seattle, he was struggling socially, barely going on dates. In nyc things have taken a 180 turn. He has literally gotten several hundred online matches, and he has to turn down dates because his dating schedule is so jam packed. He also joined cool upscale social clubs such as Ivy and Soho House and meeting tons of smart interesting people. When I saw him in NYC last week, he was so much happier that he seemed like a different man. Yes, location matters. For single men, Seattle is a no go.
That was a known fact for a long time.
I think they're bath houses š Only kidding. Ivy is a total money grab scam. They make you feel like you're elite and take all of your money. Been dodging them for over a year.
They are social clubs that you apply to get into. I was in both when I lived in nyc, but of course, provincial Seattle doesn't have them. They do members only mixers, speaker events, parties, trips. I did a Hamptons outing and Greek island yacht week, as an example. And you are not surrounded by awkward tech geeks.
Amen.
It's so true
My son interned in Brooklyn and loves it. He is planning to move there when he graduates. We're happy because we love visiting NY and will have a good excuse. I overheard him telling several Tinder stories and it was a target rich environment. Not sure about long term relationships, but dating is pretty easy there. He didn't know a single person when he arrived but met a lot of people and made several friends. Already has an internship and roommates lined up for the summer.
I'm very happy for your son. He's going to love it. I get super emotional when I think about my time in NYC and how much I miss it.
/r/thathappened. If this person and I use that advisedly, was striking out in Seattle, heās not going to get game in nyc. Wish fulfillment is a hella drug
He posts some version of this just about weekly. Itās getting a little sad.
No kidding. So transparent and pathetic
Oh hey, itās this post again
So even if you are a software engineer that doesn't really like to go clubbing or whatever shit and you aren't white, you can still do well in NYC?
I donāt understand you guys. I donāt have game but Seattle was never difficult to get dates. Iām not saying every one of them was quality wife material but in my single days I was never starved for dates. There are lots of single women here.
Iāll just cut and paste. /r/thathappened. If this person and I use that advisedly, was striking out in Seattle, heās not going to get game in nyc. Wish fulfillment is a hella drug
Same for me when I was single. Based on his posts here, Iām fairly certain that OP has some abrasive personality issues, and probably isnāt a āsocial butterflyā by any means. Seattleās ratio of men to women allows women to be picky here, and they evidently arenāt picking OP.
If Seattle is a no go, Bay Area is a no crawl zone
