Have people seen "The great hack" documentary on Netflix about facebook and Cambridge Analytica. Do people feel the elections were truly manipulated and the impact is as much as the documentary seems to claim.

Love how literally nobody blames the media/news networks for the huge role they played.
There are 3 reasons 1) media can not target you as an individual and change content person to person 2) they do not "steal" and use your personal data 3) they have been around for a long time and more or less know of their manipulation techniques.
๐ง What about the reasons that the media targets tech companies who are funded by advertisement? 1) Direct competitors. They are also funded by advertisement, but are less effective at it for the same reason of not being custom and relevant 2) Ratings. Scandals get people to watch them. 3) Similar to #1, media is struggling to survive. Newspapers are gone, journalism is batch produced and repackaged. News is heavily centralized basically picking one of two politicised narratives. Even local news is being bought up by conglomerate Sinclair and having everyone read the same script. The voices in media are from a small selected few.
I'm sure the impact was along the lines, although you can't help to think "attention whore". There are some smart people out there and they are absolutely right in exploiting stupidity.
The real smartness is to use that to make the world a better place, instead of prying on the ignorance and suffering of others.
what suffering? nobody twists your arm to post selfies or other stupidity out of your own vanity. they only exploited what you gave away freely
If anything, media rigged everything to help Hillary, including leaking debate topics. Trump won despite the odds because he had policies, and not just attacks.

Completely depends on where it's happening. You can sway 2 million people in CA and it wouldn't make a difference, but you'd only need to sway a few thousand people in a couple small swing states to change the outcome.
It's much easier to bus people to vote. Democraps are the best at that.
Low tech solutions tend to work really well these days
