I am a new joinee at level 61 and want to get promoted quickly to level 62. How should I approach this?

Cool. I joined a week back. And the promotion cycle seems to be July. So I guess I would have a good chance in 2020 July. Right? Or there are halfyearly or quarterly cycles too?

Don’t actually do your job, just create “vision” decks and socialize the sh*t out of them. Somehow this crap makes people think you are doing stuff, so you’ll get promoted.

Not really. Probably depends on team. There are several IC principals and a few partners in my org. They got to where they are by coding quickly, brilliantly and figuring out the things nobody else could.

Drive more impact than other already at that level. Suck up to various management so that when they hear your name constantly being called out, they will all associate you with being a high performer. Speak up with good questions during meetings. Basic political stuff

Co-worker joined at 61, was promoted 10 months later. Complete your work on or ahead of time and you'll be fine.
