Do you make a difference between traditional product management and news media-specific product management? I am wondering about the experience of the tech teams in the media compared to the startups? What do you experience with the way you do business and what are the excuses?
Well, the main product is the editorial content. The writers and the writing process drives the company. Technology plays a supporting role. Similar to some e-commerce companies where the merchandise is the main product and tech supports. So in these businesses, there's less of a chance to be cutting edge on tech. So it's not playing for a major league team. It's like the minors.
