Trying to gauge how customary it is for employers to allow PTO after two weeks notice is provided. Would like to consider this versus being paid out for unused given tax ramifications. I’ll have ~15 days.
Tax ramifications ... You mean you don’t want about 60%-70% after tax money
Take the pay and take your days off between jobs? Best of both
Pretty much the same as just taking the PTO right?
I believe you get paid for remaining PTO in your last paycheck.
Giving notice seems to vary a lot according to blind. Some people get walked out with 2 weeks pay (plus whatever) and some get walked out with none. The notice period is really meant to help transition out so they may not like it if you take all your pto then.
The point of giving two weeks notice is to provide the company with time for transition. That can’t happen if you are on PTO. Give notice, work the two weeks. Get the cash for the PTO, then take time off between jobs. Time off between jobs is better than time off before a last week or two transitioning out.
Good points. Anyone seen the scenario where employee gives them the 2 weeks for appropriate transition activities and then allows employee to take some/all PTO.
They could, but why? You get paid out the PTO on the last day anyway.
Continue getting paid while PTO is exhausted
Uh you’re supposed to do PTO then 2 weeks
