How can one deal with a low-ball offer from a start up? A friend got a terrible offer of around 78k for a position that requires a masters. The startup's certified LCA history shows they've offered 110-130k for similar positions for their H1B applications. We see similar numbers on glassdoor and paysa. What should he respond to such a BS number? My TC 190k
Run
100% correct
Run far away and never look back
Have you physically seen the offer? Or are relying on the friend’s word?
Yes, physically saw. My jaw dropped. I don't have any experience dealing with startups
Why can't your friend create his own damn blind account and post his queries by himself. Looks like he's been paid what he deserves..
How do you deal with low-ball offer? By rejecting it.
“I’m sorry but that doesn’t work for for me. I’m a little embarrassed about my offer but how about (135% of desired TC)?”
Thanks for your response, makes sense
Tell them your expectations are higher or offer a higher competing offer. Or just don't work for a shitty company that tries to screw people over.
Maybe your friend can take that offer and after that open an account on blind and post " I made it startup offer accepted, TC 178k".
Lol I got an offer from a blockchain startup in LA for 50k. For a full stack position. Some startups just suck major ass.
Ok so it's not that uncommon it seems. Thanks for the reply
Why waste your time? Your tc is 5x
My friend's is not, and he's a close friend
110 to 130k apparently
Well they can't have paid less, otherwise they wouldn't get LC
