What are some decent companies in bay area that are easy to get into

I am looking to move to bay area from DC, I am currently working for capital one, it has good work life balance and decent benefits, I am not interested in faang & companies on par with faang, but looking for some companies that are like Capital One with decent benefits and work life balance. I have many of my relatives there and this is the drive to move there.

If you are willing to come to NYC, I hear Two Sigma, Jane Street and Citadel are really easy to get into. You should give them a shot.🙉

Lol. I guess those are the hardest ones.

But it is hard to get in, correct me if I am wrong

"Decent" and "easy to get into" are generally opposites.

Would it be easy to transfer to Capital One’s SF office?

Capital One bbccbc OP May 27, 2019

Capital one has its major business here in DC, so even if i were to move there through capital one, i may have to live in a fear of layoff one day

Capital One TUtd37 May 28, 2019

We just laid off our entire Seattle office and SF has had low headcount for a while. Not good to work for an east coast based place that also does stack ranking when you're on the west coast.

I actually have an interview coming up w/ cap1. I hear they have a bottom 10% lay off every year culture that's toxic. Is that not true?

Capital One bbccbc OP May 27, 2019

No atleast I am not aware of it

Capital One ternary May 28, 2019

We do stack ranking. It's not quite a layoff but we do put 10% in the needs improvement category, which leads to a coaching plan, and then failing that, the Performance Improvement Plan. It's not impossible to get off of it, but if that happens, start looking for another job.
