Is there a difference in what people wear for interviews for a finance role in a finance company vs finance role in a fintech company vs finance role in a tech company? I know for finance roles at banks you should wear a full suit and tie but what do you wear for the other finance roles? Should you just play it safe and wear a suit and tie for all these roles?
Find a picture of people working in the office, try to slightly out dress them. Usually fintech or quant shops I would go polo T or dress shirt and jeans (dressed down from business casual, but I think you usually want to look more put together than the interviewers in T shirts and shorts), business casual if it's a place where people seem to dress a little nicer. Business casual seems like overkill for most places now honestly, so simple answer is polo T or button down with jeans, depending on how you feel.
If you’re unsure wear a suit, especially if it’s an old firm (gs, jpm, Fidelity).
Banana hammock
Nothing, nothing at all.
“Banker suit” to an interview is not going to hurt. Trust me
I am currently in the process of moving jobs, and got 2 offers I’m considering. Interviewed for financial analyst at the HQ finance department of major Fortune 500 retailer, and at fintech startup. At retailer HQ, I wore a full suit with a fun/non traditional blouse( not blue or white). The interviewer didn’t say anything about dress code, and I looked it up online and it was bus casual. I was a bit overdressed compared to employees and interviewer, but not notably especially without the matching jacket. I wore jeans, blouse, and blazer to startup interview, and felt a bit weirdly overdressed. My interviewer was wearing sweatpants and slides. Most employees were in sweatshirts and jeans. They had mentioned in the interview invitation to dress casually. Still got an offer though. I would lose the tie if it’s business casual, and wear nice jeans if it’s super tech-company-level casual. I don’t think it would keep you from getting an offer if you’re most qualified, but might just make you feel uncomfortable/awkward. Good luck on your interviews!!
Ok I gotta know what FinTech wore sweats and sliders?! That’s way too casual even for west coast.
Yup, Seattle
You really wasted your time asking this question on Blind? No wonder you’re getting such smarta$$ responses
if you have to ask this question I'm afraid you may have bigger things to worry about rather than what to wear...
Seriously
I would suggest the clothes. It mostly works on interviews (just a very few job profile where nudity is appreciated on the interview) otherwise you want to present yourself as the position requires little bit above. If you dont know what the position requires you might want to research the position first you are applying for...
Wear glasses with dollar signs?
Don’t know why you waste your time type these useless info in and waste others time to read it.
It's a joke. Laugh off now!
