Just curious, would you still try to negotiate higher salary if they say the offer is the most they can do? They are head of product and future boss. They said this is the upper range they could go. I've gotten advice from here that says to ask more, but on the other hand this will be my direct boss. I don't want to taint a working relationship for $2-5k more. I do have another offer, but curious what is strategically the best approach in this situation. Don't have much time to ponder.
Not worth negotiating for 5k. If it’s 20k or 50k off from your number then don’t take the job. 5k difference is minimal - that’s like $90 a week. 2k is even less.
So if they say this offer is as good as they can do, they really mean it? I'm not good at negotiations, please help!
It’s as good as they want to do for you. At this point you are out of negotiating space. Earlier in the process it might have been possible to change but unless you’re willing to walk away it’s clear you won’t get more.
What makes you think you should get more? What is your litmus test?
Just ask them if they really mean it. Lol
I prefer "is this your final answer?"
Did they bump it when you negotiated? If yes that’s best they could go. On other hand you could still ask if you have competing offers. 2-5k ain’t worth negotiating if you like this workplace and opportunity more than the other.
No they said that was the upper range
Did they ask for other offer numbers?
Bro, Do you even **** ?
If you’re capped out where you’re at, you need to move into a new role with upward potential. That may mean at a new company. I’m in the same boat.
This is for a new role! Offer
I wouldn’t want to move into a new role where I’m at the max of my salary band and have no upward potential. That’s just me. I want to be able to blow their socks off and make them fight for me.
