I joined Amazon an a new grad software engineer. In two years, I got promoted to SDE2. I am now looking for oppotunities outside of Amazon. I feel like I worked too hard at Amazon to restart at another company as an entry level. It almost feels like there was no point in me working hard at Amazon for that promotion to begin with. At the same time, I only have a bit more than 2 years of experience under my belt. If I were to interview for another FAANG, should I interview for a Junior position and start over? Would it be better if I stay at Amazon for a few more years and interview for a more senior position in another company? What are the chances of me getting hired as a non-entry level position in another FAANG with my current experience? TC: 184k
Interview at sde2 level. If you do well you will increase your TC 50%. What do you got to lose?
Google: Reach for L4, expect L3 FB: Reach for E5, expect E3 - E4 Netflix: Don't bother, they hire senior level with around 5+ yoe
If you did good enough have compete offers, you can hope for senior but it's going to be hard
I have the same 2 yoe but got an offer with $325k TC at Apple. So, I would advise you to explore new opportunities.
Congrats! Was this for a non-entry level? Any advice on how you achieved this? Would love to hear your story.
Wtf. Are you specialized Microsoft?
