Saw a Tesla parked at connector stop. Either a msft or an amazonian. Wondering why Tesla owner taking shuttle? Is it the commute time they worried or electric bill?

Maybe because they don’t want to add miles on their fast depreciating $100k car?

    • “Fast depreciating”?
      Compared to other cars?

      Someone seems salty

Or maybe they don't spend a bogus amount of $ for a car and their 30k car's depreciation rate is much less.

Or just don't want to use up miles under warranty.

I hate driving around here, and really hate sitting in traffic. Any time I can eliminate those things, what wouldn't I? So much more pleasant to take a bus or train.

Why would you be an asshole like this? It is a valid question. If I've seen this I'd probably ask myself the same.

More carbon efficient to take a bus. Even a Tesla MPGe when considering how much carbon per MWh produced by the US grid is only around 70-80 (even the leaf is only around 100.) carbon per passenger mile will be much lower on a multi passenger vehicle.

      I'm sure that's the case.

They don't live near a Connector stop, they don't want to drive, they want to work during their commute, they want to spend less money on electric, they want to reduce the miles they put on their car, they want to reduce carbon emissions, they want to get to work faster in the bus lane... There are many reasons.

I would do it even if I made shit load of money and/or owned any car. I hate driving.

Maybe it's just as simple as that?

  • Maybe they parked at the connector stop because it's free and close by their private helipad that they then flew to work in

Because taking bus isn't always about saving money but saving the emotional agony of having to deal with stupid drivers.

Or maybe, just maybe, the person had the money for the Tesla but wasn't US native and not yet comfortable with driving? Not to mention parking? And was planning to go out after work with a friend who offered to drive them both and drop the person back to where the car was parked near the connector stop?

I wouldn’t mind trading a driving experience for a connector for a day or so. Traffic has been nasty lately with all the accidents. Especially if someone’s mentally tired, it’s nice to relax and let someone else drive :) just my guess.

He/she is the shuttle driver. Cannot drive two vehicles simultaneously 😀

I do this. Super long commute, don't live close enough to the stop to walk. I take the bus for the nap when needed. Otherwise I drive in. I hate driving in though due to parking availability and just how compact the spaces are. Parking at connector stops tends to be better. The driving experience to/from makes it all worth it.
