Why engineers with such high TC so frugal
Always intrigued me why engineers with such high TC, from such a young age, are so frugal. Compared to other careers, engineers seem much more frugal than finance, doctors, etc making similar salaries, even though easier to get to that TC younger in software 300k/8 yoe
Being frugal is not bad, being cheap is. I only spend money on things that I value, and I'm not frugal nor cheap when it comes to that.

Grew up poor and I hated being Frugal. Quite the opposite now. It is interesting how similar circumstances can result in opposite beings.
Saving to FIRE
You get to high TC by being disciplined. Spending money when you don't need to is just like any other bad habit

Can we discuss about that TC ? Lol everyone now a days makes 300K on blind. If you still at Bloomberg, that TC is a bit imaginary. And I know since I have worked there

They’re only frugal when it comes to things they can’t show off to other people. In my apartment complex there’s a lot of people who drive BMW’s, Audi’s, other sports cars, but live in a shitty studio with 2 other dudes.
