I have 2 years of experience. I’m in touch with a recruiter and In a few months I will interview with Google and a few other companies. A few questions: 1 - If I’m successful in my Google interviews will I be offered an L3 position or L4 position? 2 - Last time Google offered me a choice between all coding interviews or 4 coding and 1 system design. With 2+ years of experience will system design still be optional? 3 - Would opting for a system design interview and doing well on it increase my initial offer or increase my chances of being slotted at L4? 4 - As I understand Google often lowballs initially but is willing to match offers of most other companies. I will interview with other companies that can offer more than Google and also are companies that I’d like to work for if Google can’t match. So far I’ve put Lyft and Airbnb in this category. Can you guys suggest other companies? 5 - Would other companies interview me on system design at 2 years experience? TC: $125k base and ~9k/year RSU @ current stock price (initial grant of 55k/4 years) I’m giving this a lot of thought because I plan to stay at my next position for around 3 years at least. I don’t want to mess up this time.
Two Sigma often beats Google offers
Facebook has been offering more than Google as well
Ask your recruiter for #1,2,3. But for L3 there will be no sys design
Check with your recruiter about interview loop setup first. If target level is 3 you can't be hired as 4 unless you ask additional interview.
Why was your initial grant so less? Are you swe?
L3 with that yoe, unless you have a PhD or maybe got promoted at FB already. System design not asked anymore for L3, but required for more senior levels
