Seen many threads on perks and food and comp. What are some of the worst ‘perks’ that your company has ever advertised. I’ll start: My old company had a vending machine with $2 chips as a ‘perk’. Piss-like coffee was also a ‘free perk’
I had a company 10 years ago offer 140k plus benefits (outside of the west coast) but they wanted tons of hours, so I agree
"See the world" - US Navy.
"Fly high" - how airlines looking for cabin crew advertise the job "Pick up dishes and trash" - actual job Not to forget how they give free lounge stays, but actually they hardly get to go home or follow q sleep cycle
Company 401k match that required a vesting period and pretend you didn't notice..
Atleast you had a match. Uber still won’t do a 401k match
Intel contributes 5% of our salary to 401k. 2.5 years in, I just realized it has a 6 year vesting period. It's a nice way for a company to not have to spend much money to keep you around.
I once saw a job description and the benefit was that they will provide you with a work laptop. So you don’t have to buy your own.
McDonalds - free meal with each shift
Downvoted. This is a good perk
10% off Amazon.com purchases up to $100 saved per calendar year.
Unlimited vacation...
Unlimited PTO! (not to exceed 15 days per calendar year)
Tech in general: No fixed hours or requirement to work 9-5. “As long as you can get the job one it’s all good.” AKA we’ll pay you a lot but make you work for it and don’t even bother with overtime pay.
Boo f'n hoo.
I’m not complaining. I love it. Just saying that the perk is not what you think it is.
